Working with Stephen Rule (Doctor Cymraeg)
Bore da, p’nawn da, noswaith dda… and hello!
Over the years I’ve been invited to work with schools, organisations, and community groups – both online and in person – to support language use, confidence, and learning. I work with schools, organisations, and community groups across Wales and beyond, delivering practical, engaging sessions around language, learning, and confidence.
I work bilingually in Welsh and English. I can also manage French and Irish – though I’d probably want a bit more notice (and a few evenings with Duolingo). My work is always tailored to the setting, the people, and what they’re trying to achieve. I don’t offer one-size-fits-all talks. I bring ideas, activities, and resources people can actually use.
Here are just some examples of the types of workshops and talks I’ve had the pleasure of providing over the past few years:
| Various Government Settings, including: Transport for Wales, Heddlu Gogledd Cymru | North Wales Police, North Wales Fire and Rescue, Welsh Government | Various talks and sessions for members of staff on both the importance of using and imparting Cymraeg in everyday practice. |
| Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol | Talks for year 11 students regarding taking Welsh as an A-level subject (second language). Sessions in Wrecsam University (x2) and Swansea University (x2). Sessions for A-level students – poetry and grammar. |
| Various School Visits; primary and secondary; Welsh and English-medium | Sessions and workshops for all ages on the importance of Welsh, belonging to the language, and even the importance of reading (in Welsh or any language)! |
| Glan-llyn & Urdd Gobaith Cymru | Numerous visits for young people and not-so-young people including working towards examinations and language and confidence-building sessions. Various sessions with groups from across Wales and with all age groups. |
| Golwg | Bilingual talks to 50+ guests on how to interact with the language while learning, where to find it in the wild, and where to go once Duolingo’s finished! |
| Mentrau Iaith | Tafwyl (x2) and Gwyddgig (x2) where I talk about my experiences learning and imparting Cymraeg. |
| Comisiynydd y Gymraeg | Sessions focusing on promoting Welsh and strengthening everyday use in all aspects of life, focussing on the need to celebrate over legislate. |
| Early Years Settings | Sessions on the amazing work done by leaders and practioners in our fantastic Early Years settings on how to bring more Cymraeg into practice, as well as sessions on celebrating and moving forward… with the odd awards ceremony talk chucked in for good measure! |
